CHRISTMAS IN USA AND IN THE BASQUE COUNTRY

The United States And the Basque Country are thousands of miles apart. They have very little in common: a different language, different customs and different traditions. But how different is the way we each celebrate Christmas?
In the United States celebrating Christmas means putting their socks in the fireplace whereas in the Basque Country we put our shoes under the Christmas tree. However, the Americans and the Basques have something in common: the Christmas tree. As you know, this tree is the symbol of Christmas because in many countries they are decorated with balls and colorful lights. Do you know that the New York's tree has 30.000 balls? It's amazing!

Concerning  dinner, in our country it's typical to eat fish and meat in Christmas, whereas in USA they eat turkey and potatoes.
Speaking' about the new year, do you know how they celebrate it in USA?

In New York for instance, there are spectacular displays of fireworks and  big multitudinous celebrations  in major cities like New York, where hundreds of thousands of people pack Times Square on 31 December at midnight for the count down. On 1 January it is a holiday and major parades in some cities are held, like the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. However, in the Basque Country we celebrate the new year eating 12 grapes and then we have a fantastic time drinking with friends in night.

Regarding the famous character that gives presents to children, In USA they have the famous Santa Claus who lives in the North Pole with his wife Mrs. Claus whereas in the basque Country we have the great Olentzero who lives in the mountains with his friend donkey Prontsio.

To conclude, I wish you a mery Christmass and an happy New Year!!!!!!

What are the two inventions that have contributed most to make our lives easier?

Hello readers!

This time we have been asked to make another description of two inventions that are very important in our lives. In my life all inventions are important but I have chosen the electricity and the television.

Electricity:

Inventions are all very important but for me one of the inventions that we use very much is the electricity

because it is used for many things, like cooking and other things as a wacth Tv. For me, electricity is very important because we use every day, and without electricity we could not live. Electricity was invented by Benjamin Franklin in the 18 century. He conducted extensive research in electricity, selling his possessions to fund his work.

Television:

The other invention that I will explain to you is the television. The Television was invented in 1926 by John Logie Baird, a British physicist. The first television transmission was achieved in the decade of the 20.There

are different types of television:
-Black and white TV: The screen shows only black and white images.
-Colour television: the screen is suitable for displaying colour images.
TV screen:
-LCD:flat, liquid crystal display.
-Plasma string TV: level, this technology is usually used for larger formats.
-High Definition TV or HDTV:Used in large formats and HD technology.

Television is very important to me because I use this a lot every day and I think for other people is also very important because we use much. I use very much because there are many television series that I like, especially watch Fama.

I hope that you like it!
bye-bye!

LONDRES!!

Hi friends! Have you ever been to London? Haven't you? You can read this post to know more about this incredible city!

London is the capital city of England and the united Kingdom. Situated on the River Thames in the southeast of the island of Great Britain.Concerning climate London has a temperate oceanic climate with warm summers rarely, and also rarely see a very severe winter.

WHAT CAN YOU DO IN LONDON?

There are many different activities to do in London. I selected some different places you can visit there:

Parks and Gardens:

Firstly,  you can walk in the fantastic gardens of London. Hyde Park is one of the parks belonging to the British Crown. It is a well-kept park, with plenty of squirrels and other animals. The Botanical Garden of London is a real beauty. Located in Kew, a bit far from the centre, is one of the finest gardens in the city.In addition, it offers a wide variety of shrubs and flowers.

Monuments and museum:

You can visit a lot of monuments and museums, one of the most important place in London is the tower of Big Ben. The tower is located in the northwest corner of the building that houses the headquarters of the two Houses of the British Parliament. If you like museums and cathedrals I recommend you these three: The British Museum, Natural History Museum and Saint Paul's Cathedral.

Entertainment:

With the kids: if you have any children I will recommend going to the London Eye and London Zoo.The London Eye is a sort of Ferris wheel that spins and you can see all London; and London Zoo is a place where there are animals, I think everyone knows what a zoo is like.

For other people: London is seen as one of the ideal cities to go shopping for all kinds of things. Mythical Stores including Harrods, Spitafelds, Covent Garden or the famous Camden Market, are the best options the visitor has to enjoy the best goods that the world market can offer.

Transportation:

There are many trucks to get around London but the best way is the subway because it is much more comfortable and come every 3 minutes. Also you can move by bike or on foot. I will recommend you to go by  subway because it is much more comfortable.

To end I can say that London is a wonderful city and I strongly recommend you to go there.

I hope that you will like it!

Good-bye!
